DANDI DALEY MACKALL - The Inside Scoop

Sorry it's been so long since I got out a newsletter! I'll try to be better. Lots going on, as always. I wanted to let you in on a few things that have been going on in my book world. MY BOYFRIENDS' DOGS is a young adult novel coming out Feb. 4, 2010, with Dutton/Penguin (my publisher for Crazy in Love and Larger-Than-Life Lara). We're hoping to get a "buzz" going about the book before it's available--something a little new for me. In a way, it's three novellas in one, with the main character, Bailey Daley, discovering a little more about love every time she falls in and out of it.

If only guys could be more like dogs... (always glad to see you, ready to forgive, loyal...)

NICE NEWS: I was named winner of the Helen Keating Ott Award for Lifetime Contributions to Children's Literature "for promoting high moral and ethical values through writing of literature...." I received the award in a lovely ceremony and banquet, where I met children's librarians, who were much more worthy of an award than I am.

Rudy Rides the Rails: A Depression Era Story was awarded Notable Book ALA Social Studies (National Council of Social Studies and Children's Book Council). It was the 2008 Winner of the Angel Award; Rutger's Featured Book of the Month; and recipient of the Chicago Book and Media "Award of Excellence." AND, I just found out today that RUDY is on the 2009-2010 Delaware Diamonds Booklist and a finalist for the Children's Choice Award!

A Girl Named Dan won 2 Mom's Choice Awards, plus the Amelia Bloom Award.
